Blog post- the 12th
Today we went to three awesome places:
the Roman Baths, Stonehenge, and Salisbury Cathedral.
The weather was nice; sunny in the
morning and just a bit of rain later. We were unfortunately held up by a little
traffic, but had lots of fun and saw lots anyway.

The Romans Baths at Bath
The
Roman Baths are the ruins of a town built and settled by the Romans in Britain.
It was also soon inhabited by many locals. They combined their gods of water
and healing, Sulis and Minerva, and worshipped together. That was what I liked
the best about the baths, as it is historically uncommon for two different
groups of people to make that kind of agreement and compromise, which I think
is an important thing for us to do. We had an audio tour through there, and saw
the green water, then ate lunch in Bath.

Youth at Stonehenge
Following
another bus ride, we arrived at Stonehenge. We took lots of pictures of the old
mysterious stones while walking around the ring shaped path that goes around it
by a radius of around 20-30 meters. They don’t let people near it because the
vibrations and the pressure of thousands of tourists per day walking on it
could actually make the stones shift and fall down faster, and we want people
in the future to be able to see it as we have. What I take from Stonehenge
spiritually is inspiration. The people who created Stonehenge might have
created it as some kind of place of worship. If so, they spent a ton of effort
building it for that purpose, which inspired me to try and have that kind of
dedication.

Evensong at Salisbury
We got
back in the bus and went to Salisbury Cathedral, and attended the Evensong
service. Lots of amazing choir singing and some readings from the Bible. It
felt very calm and spiritual. Having a service in a huge cathedral like
Salisbury really made it feel like God was there with us. Then we looked around
the cathedral (really cool architecture) and headed back to London and had
dinner in our small groups. Yet another awesome day of the Pilgrimage!
